Old Cairo Development Project

1999- 2002, Fostat (Old Cairo), Ministry of Tourism

Fostat is the Primordial Sacred Midpoint in Old Cairo. Encircled by the earliest Jewish, Christian, and Islamic holy sites. The comprehensive project encompassed: the restoration of important historical monuments, the reconstruction of more-than 5 kilometers of the walls surrounding ancient cemeteries, the creating of open landscapes, courtyards, sidewalks, rest-areas, and footpaths.

A new Bus Terminal was built adjacent to the Mosque of Amr Ibn Elass; servicing more than 10000 people daily. A Local Police Station, a New Fire Station, and a Subway Staircase were all integrated with the existing architecture.
